This is the shell or horn of a buffalo used in making a Phenpha. The Phenpha is a hornpipe musical instrument, usually made with the horn of a buffalo. To make this wind instrument, cylindrical bamboo tube containing four holes are attached on the smaller end for the blowing and placing in the mouth of the player. Occasionally metal ring is tied on the broader end for decorative purpose and durability of the instrument.
